Thanks for sharing. I never had children, mainly because I didn’t marry when I was young. When people ask me if I have any children, I tell them that was the only mistake I didn’t make. Typically they respond, “It’s not a mistake.” Your child is very fortunate to have you two for parents.
It’s been 5 years now since my last full term pregnancy- I sometimes can’t believe my daughter is 5 because the time has gone fast (I have had two miscarriages since my daughter was born that were both first trimester losses). I definitely was the kind of tired that I had never been- I also walk all the time and don’t normally like sitting down often- I’m a pacer when I am talking on the phone especially. I laid around a lot and went to bed at like 9 every night. I am an infant teacher now and at that time I was working with 2 year olds. I had to keep busy and not sit during nap time because I was so tired. I cleaned so many random things in the classroom!
2nd trimester was much better for me- I had more energy and didn’t have terrible nausea anymore.
I look forward to your post on the many different ways to be tired: early trimester tired, middle trimester tired, last trimester tired, newborn tired, toddler tired, playground chasing tired, teenager worry tired. The upside is you don't care what anyone thinks about your bedtime anymore. And wow, you're growing a human being! Wild, isn't it?
Oh wow our experiences are identical. I went off rosemary (the herb) in both of my pregnancies the smell was so strong and sent me to vom. I was also very mellow which I am not in real life. Enjoy second trimester! Its the best bit.
My wife was last pregnant thirteen years ago, so thank Rod most of this is a fuzzy memory for us now. The only piece of advice I remember having any value, especially post-partum, is that you should only take advice from people who have children slightly older than your own. Too much older and the memories will have faded, too close, and they are less likely to have figured out the best resolution yet. And yes, this advice I realize is outside the boundary of my own rule, so never mind.
Good luck! Sending good thoughts your way. Take care.
Congratulations! Yes, I found the insane scent "everything bad" thing happened too, regardless of whether it was coffee or the bin, everything made the nausea worse. Fingers crossed for a much smoother second trimester!
Well, I'm just thrilled for you, and I hope the super-smelling goes away soon, that sounds horrible.

What were the main obstacles of not being able to stand in front of microwaves on Saturdays?
I loved your audiobook The Great Indoors. I didn't want it to end! And Mae doing the narration was the best! So funny and well written. Great job!
